Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar Nehme Nema, dean of the college of engineering has participated in an electronic workshop on the rehabilitation of historical cities sponsored by the German Technical University Brandenburg in coordination with the University of Sulaimani by delivering a lecture on “the challenges and transformation in the old historical cities”.

This workshop was held in line with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) which is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. Lecturer Dr. Nisreen Razak has participated in this event with a research paper on “the inertia deficiency in the urban fabric of historical centers: Adamiyah city as a model” and Dr. Mehdi Suhail Mahdi gave a presentation on “the transformations in the historical urban fabric of the city of Kadhimiya” as well as a lecture by Prof. Dr. Ghada Musa Rizzuqi on “the challenges facing Samara core development”.

A number of master students of the department of architectural engineering contributed in this workshop with a presentation on a field study designed to develop al-Rashid Street in al-Rusafa district in Baghdad under the supervision of the head of department Dr. Dergham Karim, Assist. Lecturer Amal Fadhil and the engineer Ahmed Essam. They also addressed many questions and recommendations to review the stages of maintenance of the structural structure of this area.
