The college of physical education and sports sciences hosted the Iraqi Athletics Championships held for three days, sponsored by the Iraqi Central Athletics Federation with the participation of many Iraqi clubs teams and hundreds of athletes.
The championship witnessed the attendance of His Excellency the minister of youth and sports Captain Adnan Derjal and the accompanying delegation who were received by the dean of the college Prof. Dr. Qassim Mohammed Hassan Al-Khaqani. The minister of sports praised the organization of this event and the intense competition between clubs to win titles and medals in various games including men’s & women’s 100m race, women’s high jump and others. It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Army Sports Club won the first place succeeding his oldest rival the police sports club by a slight margin of points.
