The college of media at the University of Baghdad won the first mobile film award at Al-Sharjah Second International Films Festival in UAE for its film “White Fantasy” produced by Mohammed Alwan, a student from the department of radio and television under direct supervision of the dean of the college Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher along with Dr. Haidar al-Qutbi and Dr. Thia Mustafa.

The college of media has also participated with two documentaries (Katatib, Computers) produced by students in a real initiative and opportunity towards a qualitative openness and integration with their counterparts in Arab and international universities, as well as contributing to highlighting the role of the university media in international forums. It is noteworthy that 145 films have participated in this festival distributed in four categories, namely short drama films, documentaries, animated and mobile films presented by 50 universities that represented 11 countries across the world.

Dean of the college, Dr. Ammar Taher stated that this festival helped students to make their creative ideas and visions in high quality standards to reflect their culture and landscape. For his part, the festival director Dr. Alaa Makki described the participating works as being distinct and professional, stressing that the jury had a great difficulty in sorting out the best of them.
