The department of astronomy and space in collaboration with Ibn Sina E-Learning and Continuing Education Units at the college of science has organized a lecture on “Cosmic Plasma” via Google Meet service, presented by Prof. Dr. Fadhil Khaddam Fleifel from the University of Kerbala with the participation of researchers and professors from inside and outside the college.

The lecturer aimed at identifying the general meaning of plasma, its components and types on the basis of temperature, degree of ionization, tectonics, solar wind characteristics and its interaction with the magnetic field as well as how to preserve life from the effects of the solar wind. Then he talked about the importance of plasma and how to increase its modern practical uses as a source of alternative energy since it makes up 99% of the cosmic material existed between stars and galaxies in terms of mass and size for there are some planets in which plasma is the most ingredient of their material, namely Jupiter and ways for measuring the kinetic energy of each molecule based on heat associated with electrons, ions and neutral particles.
