A number of faculty professors from the department of astronomy and space have effectively participated in the activities of the World Space Week (4-10 October) sponsored by the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences (AUASS) and the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for Western Asia-Jordan/UN with the participation of Iraqi and Arab researchers interested in this field.

The aim of this event is to highlight the importance of satellites in daily life and their impact on communications, environmental monitoring, weather forecasting and telemedicine. It included a three-day virtual workshop that shed light on satellite types, their development for educational purposes, relationship to remote sensing and how to use artificial intelligence and the internet of things in sustainable development.
