The General Secretariat of the Central Library hosted a workshop sponsored by the department of scientific affairs at the university’s presidency on the “Core standards for journal indexing in certified repositories” in which the director of the scientific affairs department, Prof. Sudad Hisham Hameed and head of the output development division, Dr. Najwa Salim Ali and head of the scientific output marketing division, Sarab Seif al-Din Bahaa al-Din and the head of the journal unit, Omar Mohammed Saleh gave lectures in the presence of members of the accreditation committees at all university formations.
The workshop aimed to clarify the criteria and mechanism of journal accreditation as well as to answer the queries asked by members regarding the basic criteria adopted by (Scopus & Clarivate Analytics) and the method of calculating the Site Score (CS) of any academic journal. This measure reflects the yearly average number of citations to recent articles published in a journal and was launched in December 2016 by Elsevier as an alternative to the generally used Journal Citation Reports (JCR) of impact factors (IFs).
