College of Engineering participates in the first Iraq Conference of Oil and Gas
The college of Engineering participated in the first Iraq conference of oil and gas in the province of Basra, in acceptance to the invitation of the Ministry of Oil .The Conference is devoted to the presentation and discussion of specialized scientific researches in the oil industry. The Deputy Minister of Oil Mr. Ahmed Al-Shamaa’ opened the conference and Professor Iqdaam Muhammad Redha ,General Manager of the Department of Research and Development in the Ministry of oil and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the Conference, delivered a speech of the Preparatory Committee which explained the reason of choosing the province of Basra to hold the first scientific conference of oil and gas, confirming that Basra is the center of gravity in Iraq’s oil industry and the Ministry of Oil wanted to start from the center of gravity and in physics this leads to ensure more stability, not only this, but because the secret of the success of a lot of experiences was being held in Basra, and perhaps the magic of Basra that is not matched by any of the cities where the water and palm trees are near to the desert, poetry and art with the oil and forgiveness and generosity with hard work.
Department of Oil Engineering has participated largely in the conference where the faculty members helped in the evaluation of the scientific researches submitted to the Conference. Dr. Maha Raouf Abdul Amir head of the department of oil has worked rapporteur of extraction researches session and Dr. Muhammad Saleh Al-Jawad worked as a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Conference in addition to the participation of the department with a research of the reservoir engineering. On the other hand of the conference the delegation of the department of oil engineering held a number of meetings with the General Managers in the Ministry of Oil, who showed their willingness to support the department as it is a tributary of the Ministry of Oil and the good reputation of the department . The meetings also held with representatives of foreign companies who attended the conference and there was an agreement that there will be a scientific cooperation that serves the interests of all parties for the service of the Iraqi oil industry.
The delegation consisted of Dr. Maha Raouf Abdulameer, head of the department of oil, Dr. Hussein Ali Baqir and Instuctor Omar Faleh Hassan have represented the College of Engineering in the conference. Many of the local companies including the South Oil Company , the North Oil Company , Missan Oil Company , the oil Institute in Basra and a wide range of major international oil companies have participated in the conference.
The delegation consisted of Dr. Maha Raouf Abdulameer, head of the department of oil, Dr. Hussein Ali Baqir and Instuctor Omar Faleh Hassan have represented the College of Engineering in the conference. Many of the local companies including the South Oil Company , the North Oil Company , Missan Oil Company , the oil Institute in Basra and a wide range of major international oil companies have participated in the conference.
At the end of the conference, the administration thanked the Department of Oil Engineering for its attendance and role in making the conference successful .
