The university of Baghdad holds a celebration of world children’s day

The departments of home economics and kindergartens in the college of education for women at the university of Baghdad held a celebration of world children’s day on 20th of November that is the day when announcing the universal principles of the rights of the child in1989. The president of the university of Baghdad, prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein said in a speech at the opening ceremony that the children are the backbone of the future, so taking care of them, embrace them and directing them is not only the responsibility of the family but the responsibility of educational institutions concerned with educational affairs. He called the college students and the graduates to take their role in the application of theoretical and practical information in their kindergarten or in the field of counseling education so as to prepare children able to take their role in life and contribute in building and reconstruction of the country. He thanked the dean of the college and  those who prepared for this celebration which is a call for fraternity and establish an appropriate social relations away from anything that causes a psychological disease for the child and hampers his growth. The dean of the college of education for women, assistant professor Dr.  Shuroq Kadhim Salman stressed on the importance of the child in human perception and his deep relation with society seeking to save the child’s future. She congratulated the children of Iraq and the world in general expressing her wish to see children away from the conflicts and wars that have affected childhood, especially those that fought the former regime and blind terrorism today that distorts life and humanity. She called state institutions and civil society organizations to work harder to achieve the ways to ensure that children, wherever they are will have psychological security, food with preventing and combating violence against children in all its forms especially in home, school and preventing exploitation of children in begging At the end of the ceremony the president of the university of Baghdad honored kindergartners and he, accompanied by the director of the department of information and public relations, Dr. Kazem Omran inaugurated exhibitions hosted by the departments of home economics and kindergartens which included baby accessories and nutrition, manual labor for children to play with, graphics by college students and instructors. The ceremony was attended by director general of the department of supervision and practical evaluation in the ministry of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Sattar Al-Ghanim and those concerned with upbringing child from the ministries of culture and education.
