Symposium at the department of archeology discusses the reality of education in Iraq over historical times

  Department of archaeology at the faculty of arts, University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium entitled (education in Iraq over Arabic and Islamic historical times) attended by a number of professors and researchers at Idrisi Hall where it was opened under the slogan (with education, Nations rise) with the word of Prof. Dr. Rafah Jassim Humadi, head of department where she stated that science is not acquired merely by human will or like but there are ingredients and means conducive to the acquisition of knowledge, whether in antiquity or in modern times, such as: Family, Internet, computer, technology means and media, TV and public libraries which are sources of information, as well as the preservation of this great heritage of information. The first session included discussion of education in antiquity whereas the second session discussed education in Arabic and Islamic eras followed by interventions and recommendations that called for holding seminars on the educational development and coordination with government institutions to expand scientific and cultural activities such as that sponsored by the “General Authority for Antiquities” to hold an expanded conference on education in antiquity. The symposium was concluded with providing certificates of participation and appreciation from the deanery and head of department to the participating researchers.
