The department of French language at the college of languages, University of Baghdad celebrated the day of la Francophonies on 20th of March by organizing several cultural events in which the professors and students at the department participated in by holding a workshop entitled ”French language teaching: problems and solutions” that addressed the topic of how to teach conversation in four stages and the method of teaching French literature and how to use evaluation criteria in writing composition according to the European approach when teaching languages in addition to translation problems in teaching French as a foreign language. The students at the department of French language presented food samples which they have prepared that represent the most well-Known French meals such as pastries and desserts in a symbolic gesture of French popular culture. Head of department, Prof. Dr. Taghrid Abdul Zahra stated to the university website that the department was keen to celebrate the day of la Francophonie within its cultural and social activities to make the students familiar with this language.
