Al-Kwarizmi college of engineering at the university of Baghdad participated in Fulbright program for visiting professors in the U.S. This participation is represented by the head of department of  Mechatronics engineering, Dr. Wael Rashid Abdul Majeed as a visiting professor in  Fulbright scholarships program for visiting professors for the year 2013. The dean of the college, Dr. Osama Fadhil Abdul Latif said that “the program aims at familiarizing the Iraqi professors with the higher education’ systems used in the American universities, as well as establishing academic and research relations between the Iraqi professors on one hand and their American counterparts on the other hand by inviting a group of Iraqi professors to the United States annually, also aiming at providing the university professors with the knowledge and the tools necessary to build and expand the energies and capabilities of universities in Iraq in the light of participating in this program and receiving lectures on modern teaching methods, scientific research and managing the educational institutions so as to prepare the instructors in a way that contributes in building and developing their instructional capacities. For his part, the head of  Mechatronics engineering department confirmed that many Iraqi professors have conducted joint scientific researches in the laboratories of the American universities through this program that were of great benefit, as they kept count of a number of engineering colleges at the University of Arkansas and the modern and developed scientific laboratories in. Dr. Wael Rashid Abdul Majeed confirmed that the visit resulted in the coordination for contact with the scientific program of the University of Arkansas after keeping count of the scientific and administrative reality of that university, its scientific departments, research centers, attending the meetings of departments’ council, the college’ council and the university’ council, keeping count of the latest scientific researches and the laboratories that the university provide for students of initial and postgraduate studies, as well as visiting the factories of  Caterpillar company for industrial machinery used in the implementation of civil constructions, visiting (LM WIND POWER) company specialized in manufacturing the parts of wind turbines, visiting Clinton library in Little Rock, Arkansas, and the building of the province,  attending a lecture by the astronaut Daniel Peez about NASA agency and the American space project in the central hall of Clinton, visiting the laboratory of virtual reality at the university, antennas laboratory, robotics, and the Center of  nano-technology research. It was agreed to increase the cooperation in the field of cultural and educational programs between the Iraqi universities and the international universities, finding smooth and applied work mechanisms for twinning among these universities, expanding opportunities for Iraqi instructors for scientific and cultural exchange and training through the establishment of programs supported by Iraqi and other global universities.
