ABSTRACT
This patent present a novel magnetic field sensing method based on optical fiber micro-resonators and magnetic nano- fluids. Optical fiber magnetic field sensors have been widely applied in medical, industrial, and scientific research area because of their advantages such resistance to electro-magnetic interference, good electric insulation, light weight, fast response, wide dynamic range and its ability to work at dangerous and harsh environment. This work involve with magnetic field sensors that is depending for first time on optical fiber micro-resonators and magnetic nano-fluids based Whispering Gallery Modes (WGM) phenomena, this phenomena was known in sound then it became very active and interest in photonic applications. Two types of magnetic fluids has been used; first the ferrofluid with different Fe3O4 nanoparticle diameter (5-nm and 10nm), and second for the first time ferronematic liquid crystals doped with different shapes of Fe3O4 nanoparticles (rod like and spherical like).
