President of University of Baghdad receives the students of engineering coming back from Australia


President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool and in the presence of the administrative undersecretary of the ministry of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Attiya al-Sarraj received a number of the students of the college of engineering who represent the second group that completed their elementary studies at University of Sam Bourne in Australia within the twinning program between the two sides. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Rasool stressed that this stage should be the beginning of the real departure for these students towards the service of Iraq and the labor market through the embodiment of all that was gained from science and knowledge and made it accessible to all students who did not have the opportunity to complete their studies abroad. At the end of the meeting, graduation certificates were distributed to all graduated students in the presence of Prof. Dr. Riyad al-Mehidi, the representative of University of Sam Bourne, the dean of the college of engineering Prof. Dr. Saba Neimah al-Khafaji as well as the dean of al-Khwarizmi College of engineering, Prof. Dr. Alaa Mohammed, who blessed the students’ efforts and their scientific projects since they represent Iraq’s strategic depth in the face of the dark forces of disbelief.


President of University of Baghdad receives the Spanish ambassador in Iraq


President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool received at his office the Spanish ambassador in Iraq, Juan José Escobar Stemmann. The Rector expressed his readiness to open up prospects of cooperation with the Spanish side in various scientific and cultural fields, especially in the case that our university enjoys privileged relations with a number of European scientific institutions. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Rasool also confirmed his continued and active support in the development of Spanish language students and professors by providing training opportunities for them in Spain. The Spanish ambassador expressed his pleasure for this visit noting that Spanish architects are studying the Islamic architecture by relying on ancient Iraqi civilization in their engineering designs and that the Spanish government is interested in expanding cultural and scientific relations with various Iraqi universities, especially the University of Baghdad, adding that there is a strong desire on both sides to reactivate and open up prospects for cooperation between Baghdad and Madrid in this regard. During this meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of opening a Spanish cultural center for training of students. It is worth mentioning that this meeting was attended by Associate Rector for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif, dean of the college of languages and head of the cultural relations department at the presidency of University of Baghdad.
