University of Baghdad hosted the academic forum held for the purpose of discussing mechanisms for development of the quality of higher education in Iraq sponsored by the ministry of higher education and scientific research in the presence of His Excellency the minister Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq al-Issa who was received by Associate Rector for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif. During his speech at the forum, His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research noted that the ministry is working to give the heads of scientific departments a greater role in the educational process through creating the appropriate environment to strengthen their academic capacities and developing creative aspects for those concerned. Prof. Dr. Al-Issa stressed the support of universities and research centers to move towards the most useful applied research in meeting the needs of community in addition to the importance of keeping universities away from interventions and establishing peaceful coexistence and the spirit of citizenship in universities. It is worth mentioned that this forum was attended by the undersecretary for scientific research, Dr. Fouad Kassim, Director-General of studies, planning and follow-up, Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm with the participation of deans and heads of scientific departments.

Museum of University of Baghdad held its 5th periodic meeting with its members to discuss ways to upgrade the work of university museums in the presence of president of University of Baghdad, Prof. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool and representatives of university formations. During his speech, the Rector stated that the role of the international and Iraqi museums was significant in highlighting the great cultural aspect of countries, and that the role of the members of the museum must be greater in terms of working to document all that happen in each university formation also he stressed the importance of preserving the historical memory of each formation. 

Associate Rector for scientific affairs at University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif received a researcher from the French Institute for the Near East, Dr. Cecilia Perry for discuss a memorandum of understanding between the two sides in the field of archaeology in the presence of the director of the department of missions and cultural relations, Assistant Prof. Iyad Kadim as well as representatives of the faculty of engineering and the department of antiquities at the faculty of arts. Discussions highlighted the conservation of antiquities and archaeological and cultural sites in Iraq after discussing the possibility of cooperation with the French Institute for training of professors and students of postgraduate studies at University of Baghdad related to architecture and restoration of monuments. This meeting is considered as an introduction of inauguration of MA study in archaeology and maintenance of antiquities through a joint project with the French side in this regard. For its part, University of Baghdad will consider the mechanisms for activating this memorandum of understanding with the French side after being ratified by the University Presidency officially since it seeks for twinning with the Louvre Museum and the Lebanese University through training the specialists in monuments and architecture.
