Abstract

Irrigated equipment which operated by three types of energy sources included electric power (electric motor)، power produced from an internal combustion engine (diesel) and energy from the PTO shaft of the Turkish-made New Holland was designed، manufactured and tested in the laboratories of the General Company for Mechanical Industries / Alexandria .

Irrigated equipment consists of the following parts and materials: the centrifugal pump (4 x 4)، the power sources of the electric motor، the internal combustion engine، the power from PTO shaft and Gear Pox connecting to PTO shaft by the garden for medium size، Coupler، Bases، Pulley، Belt and Testing Platforms. After the completion and manufacture of the pumping system، several experiments were carried out in the laboratories of the General Company for Mechanical Industries / Alexandria to test the equipment (multi-source pumping system). The effect of the use of energy sources and the pressure on the efficiency of the performance of the equipment was studied. Three types of power sources included an electric motor، an internal a combustion engine، an internal a combustion engine  from  tractor PTO shaft and three levels of pressure included a low pressure of 0.5 bars، an average pressure of 1 bar and a high pressure of 1.5 bars were studied. Pump discharge، water horse power، brake horse power and pumping efficiency were measured.

The results showed that the use of the power source from the internal combustion engine resulted in a significant decrease in discharge، water horse power and brake horse power. The use of the power source from the tractor PTO shaft led to a significant increase in discharge. There was no significant effect of energy sources on the efficiency of the pumping unit. The increase in the pump pressure resulted in a significant decrease in discharge، a significant increase in the water horse power، a slight increase in the brake horsepower and a significant increase in pumping unit efficiency. The results proved successful operation of the irrigated equipment using an electric motor، an internal combustion engine and a power shaft (PTO) for the tractor at once.
