Abstract

Accuracy depth measuring of agricultural equipment is essential to perform agricultural operation successfully. In this study, device for measuring depth of agricultural equipment was designed. The device consists of ultrasonic sensor (HY-SRF05), Arduino electronic board (Arduino UNO), LCD and supply power. Experimental tests were carried out by using three type of plows which include moldboard plow, chisel plow and subsoiler plow.

Moldboard plow used at different depths (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 cm). Tillage depths of chisel plow were 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 cm. Subsoiler plow was applied at various tillage depths (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm). The results showed that R-Squared were 0.9999, 0.9998 and 0.9995 for moldboard, chisel and subsoiler plow, respectively.  The small variation between the actual depth and measured depth by device values promoted the reliability of the device in measuring the tillage depth.
