Abstract
This thesis includes synthesis of new coating polymers derivatives of maleic acid anhydride by electropolymerization technique that includes poly N-Imidazolyl maleamic acid (PIM), poly N-(benzothiazolyl) maleamic acid (PBM) and poly N-Creatininyl maleamic (PCM) are synthesized from monomer solution. The polymers coating film were grafted on stainless steel 304 (S-steel) electrodes “working electrode”. The structures of synthesized polymer have been examined by several techniques, the cyclic voltammogram, Fourier Transform Infrared FT-IR Spectroscopy, Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR) (13C-NMR), Surface morphology, Topography and composition of the protective coated film by Scanning Electron Microscopy “SEM”, Atomic Force Microscopy “AFM” and X-ray Diffraction “XRD”, tests indicate that the polymers were formed.
Also this study investigated the anticorrosion action of polymers coating film on S-steel by electrochemical polarization technique in 0.2M Hydrochloric acid solution HCl at temperatures range (293-323) K. In addition, reinforce the anticorrosion of coating polymers by nanomaterial (TiO2 and ZnO (bulk nano)) by adding these nanomaterials to monomer solution. This thesis also includes adhesion studies for polymers coating film on S-steel; the degree of the adhesive strength and the type of failure indicate that the PIM (379 Psi) has stronger adhesive properties than the PBM (338 Psi) and PCM (241 Psi.). Also, were investigated the effect of the synthesized polymer on some strain of bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonas and Escherichia coli) and enhanced the antimicrobial action of polymer by nanomaterial (TiO2 and ZnO (bulk-nano)). The results refer that the polymers and polymers with nanomaterial compounds possess strong activity against Staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonas and Escherichia coli.
