Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of probiotic bacteria in weight loss ,the amount of foods intake, the effect of microflora “Gut Microorganisms” change and some hormones that responsible for the feeling of satisfaction , this experiment was done by using experimental animals .Two groups of rats fed on a standard feed with 10% high calorie to induce obesity. After 4 weeks the results shown a reduce in weight for the group of rats that given two probiotics bacteria individually, compared to the control group that wasn’t given probiotic as the rats weight increased. The results also shown a decreased in the amount of the feed taken by the rats that given probiotic, compared to the control group the amount of the feed continued at the same rate with remarkable increasing. Also the result shown the effect on increasing the microflora especially lactic acid bacteria, as their number increased in the group of rats with probiotic, on the contrary the numbers of Firmicutes bacteria were decreased.
Also the results shown an increased in the level of the hormones “Leptin and Adepoenctin” which give the feeling of satisfaction in the groups of rats that’s given probiotic, probiotics intake didn’t have any negative effect on the rats’ health status. In order to increase the effect of probiotic in weight loss and protect probiotics bacteria against extreme condition in GI conditions , these probiotics bacteria were added to manufacturing Iraqi synbiotic sweet, using almond skin which is an excellent prebiotic, as well as its play role in reducing weight because it contains a high proportion of fiber that gives the feeling of satisfaction , which leads to weight reduction, and the survival of probiotic in high number and for a long time during storage and transit through the digestive system. The results of the storage experiment for the synbiotic sweet have shown a decrease in probiotic number about two logarithms during 120 days at refrigerating storage. Also, the results of the sensory evaluation indicate there was high acceptability just like normal sweet. The idea of this study in weight loss does not depend on reducing calories intake , but depend on the role of probiotic in reducing the amount of food intake and fast feeling of satisfaction and the role of prebiotic in feeling satisfaction and fullness too, as well as the long period of storage compared with probiotics fermented dairy products that have short storage period, can be concluded that the used of these bacteria In this sweet leads to doubling the effect of probiotic in weight loss , because they contain prebiotic outside and inside the human body.
