The department of Kurdish language at Ibn Rushd college of education for humanities organized a scientific workshop on the “Environmental challenges in Iraq” chaired by the technical agent of the Iraqi ministry of environment and Vice-President of the United Nations General Assembly for Environment in Asia and the Pacific, Prof. Dr. Jassim Abdul Aziz al-Falahi. The aim of this event is to address the challenges facing the environment worldwide, focusing namely on pollution, water shortages, shortage of agricultural production in Iraq and the impact of environmental pollution on the health of Iraqi citizens as well as its refection on the educational and service sectors since it leads to the waste of material and human wealth.

The workshop was concluded with a number of recommendations, including the emphasis on some legislation necessary to reduce the environmental pollution, invest natural resources in Iraq in a way that ensures the preservation of our healthy environment and finally to educate citizens about the importance of preserving the environment through academic institutions and social media.
