The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad held a lecture entitled “Psychometric Analysis of MCQ Examination Set”, presented by Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Jawad Al-Mudhaffar. The event was part of the college’s Staff Development lecture series, aimed at enhancing the teaching staff’s skills in modern medical education.

The lecture explored the latest concepts and methodologies in test item analysis using psychometric measurement tools, including indicators of validity and reliability, discrimination and difficulty analysis, and the evaluation of distractors in multiple-choice questions. It also addressed the importance of applying Item Response Theory (IRT) and its role in improving exam quality and ensuring fairness in academic assessment.

At the conclusion of the event, the college honored a number of its dedicated faculty members who, throughout their academic careers, have made sincere contributions to educating generations of physicians, advancing medical education, and upholding the values of rigorous academic scholarship, thereby supporting the college’s mission.

This lecture contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4, which advocates for quality education.
