The first training courses under the “Riyada” initiative were launched at the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad. The initiative is overseen by the Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Excellence at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the courses are held at the accredited center within the college. The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof.Dr. Fatima Abdul-Maleh, along with her assistants: Prof.Dr. Suhad Haseeb for Scientific Affairs, and Prof.Dr. Naima Zidan for Administrative Affairs, as well as a number of emerging entrepreneurs registered in the initiative.

In a speech, the Dean emphasized the importance of the initiative in supporting the national economy by empowering emerging entrepreneurs and equipping them with the essential skills needed to manage and develop their own projects. She also praised the role of the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences for Women in adopting such quality national programs.

The training session was delivered by Riyada-accredited trainer, Riam Abdul Karim Abdul, who covered key topics on entrepreneurship on the first day. These included essential skills for preparing feasibility studies, mechanisms for developing emerging projects according to the standards set by the Council of Ministers, as well as a comprehensive explanation of the upcoming stages, which include qualification and financial support.

This course marks the beginning of a series of training programs carried out by the accredited center at the college, as part of the Iraqi government’s efforts to support and promote entrepreneurship and excellence, fostering a dynamic economic environment based on innovation and sustainable projects.

This activity contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly: Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
