The Center for Educational and Psychological Research, in collaboration with the Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, organized a scientific workshop titled “The Psychological and Educational Dimensions of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage.”
The workshop opened with the presence of Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad, along with faculty members from various colleges, as well as a distinguished group of researchers and experts in educational and psychological affairs.
Lectures were presented by:
- Prof. Dr. Moayad Abdul-Sada, who discussed the deep psychological dimensions related to pilgrims’ behavior and its role in strengthening societal resilience.
- Dr. Sama Faleh Ghali, who examined the educational aspects of the pilgrimage as a means to promote religious and human values.
- Assistant Lecturer Nasr Thabit Al-Baldawi, who delivered an analytical reading on the educational impact of Arbaeen rituals on youth and younger generations.
The workshop addressed several scientific themes that shed light on the psychological, behavioral, and educational facets of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, emphasizing its role as a unique social and spiritual phenomenon with deep effects on individuals and communities. The session also featured rich academic discussions, reflecting a fruitful intersection between human and societal dimensions in the context of this major religious occasion.
In conclusion, participants emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between research centers to explore religious and social phenomena from a rigorous academic perspective—thereby contributing to scholarly advancement and societal service.
This workshop also directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
