Professor Dr. Ammar Tahir Mohammed, Dean of the College of Media at the University of Baghdad, affirmed that the “Study in Iraq” initiative represents a qualitative transformation in the trajectory of higher education. The initiative has successfully restored Iraqi universities to their rightful position as scientific and intellectual hubs in the region.

Dr. Tahir stated: “We continuously receive messages and applications from young men and women from Arab, Asian, and African countries expressing their desire to enroll in Iraqi universities. This is a clear indicator of growing confidence in the quality of Iraqi education and its regional and international standing.”

The Dean emphasized that this initiative has not only attracted students but has also reintroduced key institutional expertise in dealing with international students—ranging from admission and enrollment procedures to administrative and logistical aspects, culminating in the establishment of an open and culturally diverse university environment.

Dr. Tahir praised the pivotal role played by Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the visionary behind this initiative. He stressed that the minister’s dedication and persistence in restoring the prestige of Iraqi academic institutions has provided universities with a new outlook for regional and international engagement.

In conclusion, Dr. Tahir remarked: “At the College of Media, we believe that attracting international students not only enriches the educational environment but also solidifies Iraq’s position as a cross-border intellectual and cultural hub. It portrays a bright image of its people and academic institutions, while also expanding the humanitarian and academic dimensions of our educational and media mission.”

This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes quality education, as well as Goal 17, which advocates for partnerships in achieving development objectives.
