The Higher Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad organized the second training course for employees of the General Company for Iraq Ports, titled “The Unified Accounting System According to International Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards.” The course was conducted under the sponsorship of the Dean of the Institute, Certified Public Accountant Assist.Prof.Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Mamouri, and was presented by a group of distinguished faculty members from the Institute.
The participants in the course were introduced to several key topics, including the revised unified accounting system in accordance with international accounting standards and financial reporting. The course also covered subjects such as investments, disclosure of shares in other companies, mergers, and business consolidation. Additionally, it addressed the impact of foreign exchange rate fluctuations on translating financial statements, accounting policies, and adjustments in accounting estimates and errors.
At the end of the course, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the participants by the Dean of the Institute and the Executive Director of Iraq Stock Exchange Markets, Mr. Jimmy Afham Hanna, who expressed their readiness to foster academic and professional collaboration to maximize the benefits from the available expertise across all institutions in Iraq.
This course contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 8, which calls for decent work and economic growth.
