Prof.Dr. Asil Jalil, Head of the Evening Studies Department, and Lecturer Diana Ghanem, Head of the Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, participated in the Eighth International Scientific Conference organized by the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra. The conference was held under the theme “Sports and Sustainable Development in Light of the Prospects of Artificial Intelligence”.
Their participation included presenting a scientific paper titled “The Effect of Educational Exercises Using the Variable Training Method on the Technical Performance of the High Jump Event in Female Students”. The aim of the research was to develop educational exercises using the variable training method to improve motor performance. The variable training method is an educational technique that involves diversifying educational systems, training on a wide range of variables that influence movement, such as dimensions, distances, angles, and directions. This approach helps enhance one or more skills and develops various stages of the high jump event.
The research was conducted using an experimental method on a sample of 20 female students from the fourth year of the college, divided into two groups: experimental and control. The experiment lasted for six weeks, with two educational units per week. The findings showed that the educational method designed with the variable training approach had a positive impact on the students’ learning of the high jump event stages. In addition, Dr. Asil Jalil was selected as a member of the Motor Learning Committee to discuss several papers presented at the conference.
This participation reflects the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), promoting quality education and international collaboration to achieve shared objectives.
