The Urban and Regional Planning Center for Graduate Studies at Baghdad University organized the Urban Planning Scientific Competition Festival for Master’s students for the academic year 2024-2025. The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Mohsen Al-Sayed, Director General of the Regional and Local Development Department at the Ministry of Planning, as well as Prof.Dr. Ameer Faisal Abdul Ameer, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, along with a group of distinguished academic guests from both inside and outside the university.
The festival aimed to showcase the planning vision of the Master’s students at the center, focusing on design and construction while considering geographic location and environment. It also included calculations for green areas, ensuring the provision of services and various social activities targeting different groups, based on community participation in the design of residential neighborhoods. The designs were required to include residential areas, hospitals, schools, and mosques, while adopting both horizontal and vertical housing designs, along with an underground car garage.
The competition panel reviewed the designs submitted and selected three projects that won the top three places. Other design projects were recognized for their modernity and excellent design, earning them accolades as exemplary projects.
This festival aligns with two of the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 11, which calls for sustainable cities and communities, and Goal 17, which advocates for partnerships to achieve the goals.
