A delegation from the Center for Educational and Psychological Research at Baghdad University visited Al-Farah School, which is affiliated with the Baghdad-Karkh Second Education Directorate, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in providing psychological support to orphaned students and organizing educational activities that contribute to improving their mental health.

During the visit, the delegation met with the assistant director, Ms. Qahira, and discussed the psychological challenges faced by the students, which often stem from feelings of deprivation and loss due to the death or abandonment of one or both parents, leading to deep psychological crises. The meeting highlighted poignant cases, including a letter from a student expressing her pain over the loss of her parents and her sense of isolation.

The delegation also explored the school’s facilities, which accommodate 232 students, with 24 teachers overseeing their education. Additionally, the school has a guidance counselor who can collaborate on the activities. The school is equipped with supportive facilities, including an art studio and a sports hall, which allow for diverse activities to be carried out.

At the end of the visit, an agreement was made to implement a series of activities, which will be carried out in phases according to the students’ needs. This initiative aligns with the commitment of the Center for Educational and Psychological Research at Baghdad University to provide a supportive environment for orphaned students and help them overcome psychological challenges.

This objective aligns with one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve the goals.
