The College of Law at the University of Baghdad recently held a workshop titled “Cyber Extortion Crime,” organized by the Career Development and Employment Unit. The session was delivered by Lecturer Rusul Khalid Ibrahim from the Criminal Law Department.

The workshop aimed to shed light on the concept of cyber extortion and explore strategies to combat it, as this represents one of the most dangerous cybercrimes threatening individual and community security, particularly with the rapid technological advancement and widespread use of social media.

Key recommendations from the workshop emphasized the significance of community collaboration and the role of legal frameworks in addressing cyber extortion to safeguard individuals and enhance digital security.

This workshop supports one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 16, which advocates peace, justice, and strong institutions.
