Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Languages, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoush, the activities of the cultural festival of the Russian Language Department were launched in the presence of a delegation of the Russian Embassy in Baghdad and a number of professors and students of the college in the presence of Elbrus Kirillovich Kotrashev and his accompanying delegation to participate in the activities of the Cultural Day of the Department of Russian Language.
The festival activities opened with a speech by the Dean of the College, in which he thanked the attendance and international participation by the embassy and Russian universities and their support for scientific and cultural events at the College of Languages, which varied between theatrical performances, singing and reciting poetic poems, in which a number of professors and students of the department participated in which they dealt with the cultural and literary aspects of Russian language and literature, most notably the play “The Bear” presented by a group of teachers in Russian. The festival concluded with the famous Russian song “Katyusha”, which was performed by a group of students of the department.
For his part, the ambassador expressed his happiness with the good organization of all the events in the festival and stated that “it is not easy to master Russian poems even from the Russians themselves,” and thanked the teachers of the Russian language department for the linguistic development of the students.
This activity achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth and seventeenth goals, which call for quality education as well as partnership to achieve the goals.
