The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science for Women, University of Baghdad, organized an awareness workshop entitled (Psychological and social support for breast cancer patients).
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of psychosocial support in improving the quality of life of breast cancer patients and helping them deal with the psychological challenges they may face during treatment.
The workshop covered topics such as the impact of breast cancer diagnosis on mental health, and how to deal with anxiety and depression associated with the disease. The importance of having a strong social support network that includes family and friends was also emphasized, and the role of this network in raising the morale of patients and enhancing their ability to cope with the disease.
Strategies and techniques for coping with stress and stress, such as relaxation techniques and psychotherapy, were presented, and the importance of participating in support groups involving other patients to share experiences and share tips was discussed. The workshop concluded with the need to integrate psychosocial treatment with medical treatment to help patients overcome psychological and social challenges, and achieve better results in treatment and recovery, and it was also emphasized that psychosocial support is one of the key factors in improving the patient’s ability to tolerate treatment, and it is an integral part of integrated health care for breast cancer patients.
This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the third goal, which calls for ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
