The College of Education for Women at the University of Baghdad hosted a special workshop to enhance the skill of the national evaluators team to evaluate the accreditation of the programs of the colleges of the educational group, in which Dr. Haider Hatem Faleh and a number of professors in the ministerial evaluation team lectured in the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ithmar Shaker Majeed Al-Shatri, the Director of the Accreditation Department in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Yusra Muhammad Abdullah, and a number of deans of colleges of education.
The workshop aimed to develop and enhance the education process in Iraqi universities, as this workshop seeks to develop the skills of the national evaluators’ team in the field of conducting evaluations in the scientific departments of educational colleges by preparing standards for colleges of education in Iraqi universities in line with international universities and colleges and identifying weaknesses and addressing them to achieve international accreditation, as the total departments of the colleges of education reached 242 departments in Iraqi universities distributed over 22 specialties.
The workshop recommended the need to apply and follow the steps that contribute to obtaining accreditation and getting rid of obstacles that hinder the work of some colleges in obtaining accreditation, as well as the need for colleges to apply the mechanism of writing self-report and documenting the activities of departments, which in turn contributes to obtaining program accreditation.
It is noteworthy that the national evaluation team has granted accreditation to the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education Ibn Al-Haytham, the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education Ibn Rushd at the University of Baghdad, and the rest of the educational colleges seek to apply the approved standards in preparation for obtaining accreditation for educational colleges.
This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal, which calls for quality education.
