The Continuing Education Center at the University of Baghdad organized a training workshop (State Employees Discipline Law) for those appointed by the Federal Service Council, which was delivered by the teacher Dr. Zahra Hatem Al-Sultani, a teacher at the center.

The workshop aimed to develop the capabilities of the participants to familiarize themselves with the most important axes of the State Employees Discipline Law, which are the duties and taboos of the job, as well as disciplinary penalties and the effects of their imposition on the public employee.

The workshop dealt with identifying the provisions of the Discipline Law of State and Public Sector Employees No. 14 of 1991, as amended. The workshop dealt with the nature of the legal relationship between the employee and the administration, and the statement of the complementary relationship between the State Employees Discipline Law and other functional laws in the legislative system.

In conclusion, the workshop stressed the importance of understanding the nature of the legal relationship between the employee and the management and highlighted the complementary relationship between the State Employees Discipline Law and other relevant legislation in the legal system and developing the participants’ abilities to understand job duties and prohibitions, as well as disciplinary sanctions and the effects that result from their imposition on employees working in the public sector.

This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the eighth and sixteenth goals, which call for decent work and economic growth, as well as peace, justice, and strong institutions.
