The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad, under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Nima Dahsh Farhan, organized a workshop entitled “The Importance of Psychological Awareness to Combat Extremism and Terrorism and Promote Mental Health”. The workshop was co-presented by Prof. Dr. Anwar Saeed and Dr. Sura Taher Huwain.
This workshop aims to highlight the importance of psychological awareness in combating extremism and terrorism and promoting the mental health of individuals and society, as well as providing participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand and respond to these phenomena effectively.
The workshop witnessed a remarkable presence of interested people, researchers, and students who interacted with the lecturers in extensive discussions that dealt with various aspects of psychological awareness and its role in confronting extremism and promoting the mental health of society.
This workshop comes within the framework of the efforts of the University of Baghdad, the College of Islamic Sciences, and the Women’s Affairs Unit to combat extremism and terrorism and promote awareness of the importance of mental health in building a safe and secure society.
This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the third and sixteenth goals, which call for ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being for all at all ages, as well as peace, justice, and strong institutions.
