The Division of Graduate Studies at the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad organized an awareness training workshop entitled “Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and their Dangers to Iraqi Society” for graduate students within the program of developing skills and scientific research for graduate students, in which Prof. Dr. Rasul Mutlaq Muhammad, a teacher in the Department of Sociology, lectured, in the presence of a number of professors and graduate students.

The workshop aimed to educate individuals about the dangers of drugs, introduce individuals to the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on mental and physical health, educate individuals about the types of drugs, introduce individuals to the different types of drugs and their negative effects, and educate them about the causes of drug addiction and its negative impact, as well as providing support and assistance to individuals suffering from drug addiction, educating individuals about the effects of drugs on society, such as increasing crime and poverty rates, encouraging individuals to avoid drugs and promoting mental and physical health, providing information about drug addiction treatment and providing support and assistance, and promoting awareness about the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on mental health.

In conclusion, the workshop recommended the need to raise awareness through the media and explain the role of the family, where the family must provide advice to children and correct their behaviors, with guidance and stay away from bad friends, so awareness is necessary in schools and universities Schools and universities must launch awareness campaigns for young people, and provide addiction experiences on the ground so that they recognize the danger that invades their lives, and introduce the role of society.

This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the third goal, which calls for ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
