Baghdad University hosted an awareness campaign organized by the Baghdad Municipality to introduce the “Baghdad Citizen Voice” application. The event was attended by Prof.Dr. Ameer Faisal Abdul Ameer, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Mohammad Al-Rubaie, the spokesperson for the Municipality of Baghdad, along with several municipal staff members and activists in this field.
The campaign aims to raise citizens’ awareness, particularly among students and academics, about the importance of the application, which allows them to submit complaints and suggestions related to municipal services in Baghdad. This contributes to improving service delivery and enhancing direct interaction between the municipality and the city’s residents.
During the meeting, representatives from the Baghdad Municipality provided a detailed explanation of how to use the application and its role in facilitating the reporting of issues related to infrastructure and municipal services, such as public cleanliness, road maintenance, street lighting, and green spaces. The session also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the university and the municipality to raise awareness among students and encourage them to use the application effectively.
Several deans of colleges, research centers, and department heads at Baghdad University, who have been active in promoting awareness among students in collaboration with relevant community stakeholders, were also honored during the event.
This campaign is part of the efforts of the Baghdad Municipality to develop municipal services and enhance community participation by employing digital technologies in managing complaints and responding to citizens’ needs swiftly and efficiently.
The initiative aligns with one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 15: Life on Land, which includes the university’s initiatives related to environmental education programs, particularly in clarifying policies and activities designed to reduce waste. It also contributes to Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals, which calls for collaboration to achieve these objectives.
