The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (The Harms of Using Mobile Phones on Children) in the Continuing Education Hall at the College of Nursing, in the presence of a number of teachers and employees.
The workshop aimed to educate the attendees about the harms of using smartphones on children and ways to reduce these damages. The workshop also included many topics, including the physical, mental, and social harms of mobile phones on children, addiction to smartphones and their symptoms, and the time allowed for children to use smartphones according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as the most important instructions for parents on reducing the damage of mobile phones to children.
The workshop recommended the need to reduce the use of smartphones by parents in front of children, involve children in sports clubs and practice physical activities to reduce the use of phones, and monitor the child’s continuous parents while using the smartphone during the time allowed.
This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal, which calls for quality education.
