The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a specialized seminar on the rights of children of all ages, as part of its relentless endeavor to shed light on the authentic Islamic values related to childcare and protection.
The workshop dealt with an in-depth study of the rights of the child as mentioned in the Sunnah of the Prophet, where Dr. Nada Khalil Abdullah reviewed the hadiths of the Prophet that emphasize the importance of caring for the child and caring for him from the moment of conception until reaching adulthood and providing the appropriate environment for his growth and development.
During the workshop, an Islamic conception of children’s rights and the prevailing customs and traditions in society were compared to extract best practices and develop them in line with the requirements of the present era.
At the end of the workshop, participants stressed the importance of cooperation between academic institutions, community organizations, and government agencies in order to ensure the protection of children’s rights and provide them with the necessary care at all stages of their lives.
This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal, which calls for quality education.
