The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine held an awareness lecture on (cybersecurity), in which Prof. Dr. Alaa Kamel and Assistant Professor Dr. Amani Mohamed lectured, in the presence of a number of faculty and students of the college.
The lecture aimed to introduce the audience to the meaning of the word safe, as it is a field concerned with protecting systems from cyber-attacks or intrusions that aim to steal data, disrupt services, or cause other damage.
The lecturers touched on the objectives of cybersecurity, including protecting confidentiality and maintaining integrity by preventing, modifying, or corrupting files, ensuring availability, and ensuring that systems and services are always available when needed, one of the most important cyber threats is malware such as viruses, spyware, ransomware, and ransomware attacks, and they are attackers who lock data and demand ransom for decryption.
The importance of cybersecurity was noted, including the protection of sensitive personal data and the reduction of material losses resulting from breaches.
In conclusion, the methods used to enhance this type of security were highlighted, including the use of modern technologies such as anti-virus programs, intrusion detection systems, encryption through the use of encryption to secure data during transfer and storage, and finally software updates.
This lecture achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal, which calls for quality education.
