The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific seminar titled “Sociology in Tunisia – Teaching, Research, and Writing,” in which Prof.Dr. Monir Al-Sayadani, a Sociology professor from Tunisia and Editor-in-Chief of the “Omran” Journal of Social Sciences published by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, was invited.

The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of communication between researchers and academic institutions in the Arab world. It also covered the history of social sciences in Tunisia, tracing its origins in the mid-18th century, its academic milestones within the fields of human and social sciences, the impact of French colonialism on Tunisian sociological research trends, and its transformations under the republics and post-revolutionary Tunisia since 2010.

In conclusion, Prof.Dr. Al-Sayadani discussed the methodological and theoretical debates raised by professors and students of the Sociology Department, focusing on national and cultural approaches to the sciences. He also reviewed projects on Arab and national social sciences in this regard. The lecture emphasized the importance of communication between researchers and academic institutions in the Arab world.

This symposium contributes to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4, which calls for quality education.
