The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemical Sciences at the College of Science for Women, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled (The Role of Chemistry in Criminal Evidence).

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of chemistry in the field of forensic evidence, as it plays an important role in analyzing suspicious substances and providing accurate evidence that can contribute to the detection of crimes, chemistry is used in the analysis of blood, diuresis, hair, and other chemicals that can be related to crime, through techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and chemical reaction tests, and experts can determine the composition of materials, which helps in reaching evidence that may be decisive in investigations, such as analysis Toxins or drugs in the body that can clarify the cause of death or poisoning, as well as studying the effects of chemicals on crime scenes can indicate the type of crime committed, chemistry also contributes to the promotion of justice, as reliable chemical evidence allows investigators and courts to reach sound conclusions, ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.

This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the third and sixteenth goals, which call for ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being for all at all ages, as well as peace, justice, and strong institutions.
