The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Units and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad held their annual cultural festival in celebration of International Arabic Language Day. The event was held under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assist.Prof.Dr. Raed Falah Hassan, and attended by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Prof.Dr. Uday Hatem Shaban, along with several department heads, faculty members, students, and those involved in teaching and appreciating the Arabic language.

The event aimed to highlight the importance and elevated status of the Arabic language, emphasizing its role as the language of the Quran and a cultural identity that connects communities worldwide. The event underscored the dangers of neglecting and forgetting the language, which should not be seen as merely a subject for occasional remembrance but as a living, evolving entity that must be preserved, free from common linguistic mistakes.

The festival featured a variety of activities, including speeches, poems, and performances by participants from both inside and outside the college. Speakers expressed their pride in their mother tongue and its importance in conveying their national identity, as well as its crucial role in transmitting knowledge and science. The event also included the distribution of certificates of appreciation to guests, faculty members, and students.

Additionally, a painting, calligraphy, and handicrafts exhibition was inaugurated, showcasing the creative works of the college’s students and faculty. These artistic expressions reflected the participants’ deep love for the Arabic language and their strong connection to it.

This festival aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which advocates for quality education.
