The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad organized a field visit to “Khalidiya area, Sin Al-Dhuban and Al-Saqlawiya”. The visit was under the supervision of the lecturer Dr. Anne Rajab, and Dr. Quds Osama Qawam, in the presence of a number of students of the first stage.
The visit aimed to study rock detectors, types of rocks, and their characteristics, as well as conduct morphometric measurements of the slopes and take samples of the rocks of each formation with measurements by special devices to measure the values of the moisture content of the rocks, as well as measuring the proportions of pollution and measuring the values of climatic elements and knowing the extent to which the rock layers are affected and the effectiveness of geomorphological processes.
In conclusion, the study concluded that there is an effective activity of the elements of heat and rain as well as wind on the rock layers, and high pollution rates were identified within the study areas due to the misuse of natural resources. This study is part of the vocabulary of practical geology for first-year students.
