The Continuous Education Unit, in collaboration with the Career Development and Employment Unit at the College of Science for Women, University of Baghdad, and in coordination with the Ministry of Health, organized a workshop titled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Daily Life.” The event was attended by a number of faculty members and college staff.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about climate change and educate participants on the use of eco-friendly alternative energy sources to reduce gas emissions and promote waste recycling.
The speakers explained that climate change is one of the most critical challenges facing Earth, directly affecting human populations and various forms of life. Addressing this issue requires collaborative efforts to ensure the preservation of life on the planet. Climate change refers to significant and long-term shifts in Earth’s weather patterns, including temperature fluctuations, changes in rainfall levels, and increased severity of natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and storms. These changes can have profound effects on the environment and ecosystems, leading to noticeable alterations in natural systems such as oceans and forests.
The workshop also highlighted the human activities contributing to climate change, including the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and greenhouse gas emissions from industrial processes. Additionally, the concept of global warming was discussed, emphasizing that it is the gradual rise in Earth’s atmospheric temperature due to the accumulation of greenhouse gases resulting from human activities.
The session included interactive discussions and key observations that reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in preserving the environment and climate. Participants emphasized the need to transition towards alternative energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, to reduce emissions and mitigate the effects of this pressing global issue.
