University of Baghdad provides a wide range of social services .All its departments and sections support the slogan stated as “University of Baghdad is at the Demand of Social Services”. One of the services is what the Centre of Marketing Research and Consumer Protection provides as direct and indirect services through remarks and recommendations. A session entitled “Power Availability is a Consumer Right in Satisfying Fulfilling Essentials” was held in the centre in support of the slogan stated as “Hand in Hand for Improving Electricity Service in Iraq”. It was attended by Professor Riyadh Aziz Hadi, administrative assistant in University of Baghdad Presidency; assistant professor Muna Al Musawy, Head of the centre of marketing Research and Consumer Protection, with other professors and university students and some members working in the Ministry of Electricity.
The session started with a recitation of some verses of the Holly Qura’an. Then, the statement of the preparatory committee was presented by the head of the centre. The four sessions were chaired by Baha’a Tomah Jiaad to start the scientific discussion through presenting research abstracts that were to be followed by session recommendation.
The university website staff group attended the session to make an interview with Prof. Muna Almusawi. She stated that “within current circumstances, citizens in Iraq suffer from a defect in electricity service resulted from Wars and The Economic Blockade that was set as an international punishment in Iraq .This problem could be traced back to twenty years up-to-date in spite of the reestablishment of the Iraqi government in 2003. It has had its effect on different levels; social, economic and health level. Thus, its solution is not the task of Ministry of Electricity”. The session shed light on Oil and Electricity ministries and what could be done by consumers, such as, power maintenance and paying due bills. Al musawi added that the session was held in four sections .the first was presented by Siham kamal entitled’ Electricity Service Defect and Its Impact on Consumers and National Economy” .The second entitled “Oil Availability for Present and Future Electricity Stations” was presented by Hanan Naji. Shayma’a Munthir presented a section entitled “Supporting Ministry of Electricity for Best Service”. On the other hand, prof. Salah Hadi presented “Renewing Powers and Their Role in Power production and Preserving better Environment” .Al-Musawi added that the centre cares a lot for running a national campaign for” power save ” this term is used instead of power availability to ensure that power save is emphasized for the benefits of citizens above all.
These efforts have been brought together to design a future planned vision for cooperation of society sections and maintaining a special role in community service.
