The Arabic Language Safety Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a discussion session attended by a select group of educators and researchers, to discuss the challenges facing the Arabic language on social media platforms and the impact of digital developments on its integrity and proper usage.

The session was attended by the unit’s head, Assist.Prof.Dr. Nebras Hussein Mahawash, Assist.Prof.Dr. Jassim Tarish, and Dr. Ikhlas Hamid Hamza, who shared their insights on the main linguistic challenges faced by Arabic in the digital space and ways to promote its correct usage.

Additionally, Assistant Lecturer Lubna Hassan, Assist.Lecturer Somaya Ahmed, Assist.Lecturer Safaa Hwar Mayouf, Dr. Samah Abdulhussein, and Lecturer Adhra Abdulamir presented research papers discussing solutions to the challenges facing the Arabic language on social media.

The session included extensive discussions on the role of academic and media institutions in preserving the Arabic language, as well as the need to raise awareness among social media users about the importance of proper language usage.

At the conclusion of the session, the participants emphasized the importance of launching initiatives that support the integrity of the Arabic language in digital content, and strengthening the role of educational and media institutions in spreading linguistic awareness among various societal groups.
