The College of Education for Women at the University of Baghdad, Department of History, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, held a training workshop titled “Educational Institutions and Their Role in Disseminating Knowledge During the Abbasid Era.” The workshop was led by Dr. Rana Fathi Saud and Assistant Lecturer Zubaida Ghazwan Abdul Salam Al-Qudsi.
The goal of the workshop was to explore the extent of the civilizational flourishing achieved by the Arab Islamic state during the Abbasid period, the importance of libraries and books, and the role of translation during the Abbasid era and in the present day.
The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, including encouraging scientists and intellectuals by providing them with salaries and rewards to promote scientific research, establishing and solidifying a comprehensive educational system through curricula that include religious, philosophical, and natural sciences.
Additionally, it emphasized promoting translation and knowledge transfer, establishing translation centers like “Bayt al-Hikma” to transfer knowledge from other civilizations, and fostering scientific collaboration with other cultures by sending scientific missions abroad to acquire new knowledge.
