The Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Legal Division of the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Employing Artificial Intelligence in Photographing Historical Events”, presented by Assistant Lecturer Sabrin Jawad Kazim, in the presence of a group of professors and employees.
The workshop aimed to introduce the attendees to the concept of artificial intelligence, its importance, and its types, in addition to highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence. The workshop also dealt with how to employ this technology in photographing historical events, by converting images into texts by programming the data related to those images and converting them into texts that simulate the historical event to be clarified.
The workshop came out with a set of recommendations, most notably encouraging researchers and those interested in history to benefit from artificial intelligence techniques in converting historical images into understandable and accurate texts, and the need to develop artificial intelligence programs and techniques specialized in dealing with historical data, as well as enhancing cooperation between academic and technical institutions to develop artificial intelligence tools that help document and analyze historical events innovatively, as well as encouraging teachers and students to integrate artificial intelligence into their scientific research related to history and holding training workshops and specialized courses to teach how to use artificial intelligence in analyzing historical events. The workshop also witnessed interaction from the attendees who enriched the workshop with their valuable interventions and questions that enriched the discussion.
