The Career Development and Employment Unit at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Department of Italian Language, organized a training workshop titled “Soft Skills and Digital Skills.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Bahaa Najm Mahmood, Head of the Italian Language Department, and Dr. Azhar Issam, a faculty member, with the attendance of faculty members and students from the Italian Language Department.

The event aimed to empower students and graduates to build a professional future by honing the essential soft and digital skills required for success in the ever-changing job market. These skills include effective communication, creative problem-solving, critical thinking, computer software proficiency, and data analysis. The goal was to provide participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to build self-confidence and successfully adapt to job market demands.

The researchers recommended integrating soft and digital skills into academic curricula to enhance students’ readiness for the workforce. They emphasized the importance of focusing on communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving, along with organizing intensive training workshops in collaboration with labor market experts.

Additionally, they suggested launching online platforms for continuous learning, offering accredited certificates, and conducting regular surveys to follow up with graduates, providing additional support when needed. The researchers also highlighted the importance of boosting self-confidence through training in presentation skills and job interviews.
