The Council of the University of Baghdad announced, during its tenth session, a set of important decisions related to the mechanism for selecting department heads and the process of transferring employees between university formations, with the aim of enhancing the academic and institutional performance of the university.
The decisions of the Council included the need for the deanships of their formations to take the research aspect and scientific publishing into account when nominating teachers for the position of head of a department, branch, research unit, or assistant, and this trend aims to encourage teachers to contribute to scientific research and publish research in reputable journals, in addition to other criteria related to selection.
The Council directed not to grant any objection to the transfer of employees from outside the university or the ministry until after submitting applications to the university center, to audit the administrative structure and ensure that there is a difference in the financial allocation, and then approaching the formations to express their opinion on the non-objection or the need for services according to the vision of the formation.
The recommendations for transferring employees between university formations stressed the need to approach its center first to audit the structure before granting no objection and completing the transfer procedures while adhering to the powers granted to deans and formation councils.
With regard to the housing projects for lecturers, the university directed the deanships of its formations to follow up on the completion of the procedures for registering their affiliates on the brotherhood complex, to facilitate the provision of administrative and academic services.
The decisions of the Council of the University of Baghdad reflect its commitment to enhancing the efficiency of administrative work and scientific research, thus enhancing its position as a leading academic edifice in Iraq and the region.
