The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Drug Control and Psychotropic Substances in the Ministry of Interior, organized a workshop titled “Challenges in Combating Drugs and the Role of Youth in the Fight.”

The event aimed to highlight the key challenges facing efforts to combat drug abuse, its spread, and its impact on mental health and society. Additionally, it sought to raise awareness among youth about their role in combating this scourge by clarifying the Drug Control Law No. 50 and its role in addressing the negative phenomenon that threatens society.

The workshop recommended the need to enhance awareness programs in universities and schools to increase youth awareness of the dangers of drugs, support rehabilitation centers for addiction victims, and intensify cooperation between academic and government institutions to curb the spread of drugs. It also called for the organization of targeted media campaigns to emphasize the role of youth in the fight against drugs.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were honored, and informative brochures containing advice for youth on how to protect themselves and their families from the dangers of drugs were distributed. The importance of enforcing the law and the central role of youth as a key element in combating this menace was emphasized.
